Children of the Bible
OLD TESTAMENT LESSON: Ezekiel 36:22-29
22. Tell the people of Israel: "The Lord GOD says: Israel, I will do My work. ?For honoring you? No! I do something that will protect and honor My holy name. Your actions caused shame for My name in other nations.
24. "I will take you out from the nations. I will gather [collect] you from all those countries. And I will bring you back to your home country.
25. Then I will -- clean water, I will sprinkle on you, and you will become clean. Your dirty sin and your idols, I will remove. And I will clean you.
26. I will give you a new heart. And I will put a new spirit in your. I will remove your stone hearts, and I will give you new living hearts.
27. I will put My Spirit in you, and I will help you follow My rules. You will carefully obey my laws.
28. You will live in that land I gave to your ancestors. And you will become my people, and I will become your God.
29. Your sin makes you dirty, but I will save you and clean you."
EPISTLE LESSON: Ephesians 2:1-10
1. In-the-past [ago] your spirit died because of your sins and the things you did against God.
2. Yes, in-the-past [ago] you lived as the world lives. You followed the devil, that controls the evil spirits over all the world. That evil spirit now works in people whose refuse to obey God.
3. In-the-past, all of us lived like them. We wanted to satisfy our desire for sin, doing all the things our bodies and minds wanted. Those things make God angry.
4. But God's mercy is great, and His love for us is great.
5. When our spirits died in our sins, God made us alive again in Christ. God's love saves you.
6. We are united [connect] with Christ Jesus. Now God lifts us with Jesus to reign with Jesus in heaven.
7. God did that for showing during the future His wonderful love that He gives us in Christ Jesus.
8. His love saved you. You did nothing. That is His gift. Your faith received His gift.
9. Your works don't save you. You can't brag.
10. God made us, and He connected us with Christ Jesus. Now we are in Christ, doing good works that God previously planned for us.
40. Jesus went back to Galilee. A big crowd of people waiting for Him, welcomed Him.
41. A man named JAIRUS -- he was leader for the synagogue, Jewish church. [invent name sign for Jairus]
Jairus came to Jesus and kneeled, begging Jesus to come to his house.
42. His only daughter, about twelve years old, was sick, near death.
Jesus walked with Jairus to Jairus’ house. Many people were crowding all around them.
43. In that crowd of people, one woman had bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her.
44. That woman came behind Jesus and touched His coat, the edge. Immediately her bleeding stopped.
45. Then Jesus said, "Who touched Me?"
All the people said, "I didn't touch You."
Peter said, "Lord, people are all around you and they are pushing against you."
46. But Jesus said, "Someone did touch me, because I felt power go out from me."
47. The woman saw she can't hide. She came to Jesus, shaking, and kneeling in-front-of Jesus. All the people listened while she told her story -- why she had touched him, and how she became healed immediately.
48. Jesus said to her, "Woman, you are well because you believed. Go in peace."
49. While Jesus was talking, someone came from Jairus' house, and told him, "Your daughter is dead. Don’t bother the teacher anymore."
50. When Jesus heard that, He told Jairus, "Don’t fear. Believe, and your daughter will become well."
51. Jesus went to the house. He let only PETER, JOHN, JAMES, and the girl’s father and mother go inside with him.
52. All the people in the house were crying and grieving because the girl was dead. But Jesus said, "Stop crying. She is not dead. She is only asleep."
53. The people laughed at Jesus because they knew the girl was dead.
54. But Jesus held her hand and called to her, "My child, stand-up!"
55. Her spirit came back into her, and quickly she stood-up. Then Jesus told her parents, "Give her something to eat."
56. The girl’s parents were-amazed [stunned / jaw-dropped], but Jesus told them not to tell anyone what happened.
Three times in the Bible
Jesus raised dead people back to life.
(1) Lazarus -- Mary and Martha's brother.
(2) The son of the widow in the city named Nain.
(3) This story about Jarius' daughter.
Two of those stories begin when someone asks Jesus to come
and heal a seriously sick person.
But Jesus delayed His travel, and both people died.
For Lazarus, Jesus decided to stay home, and wait for Lazarus' death.
We can study that story another time.
Today we focus on Jarius and his daughter.
This story begins when Jesus was gone across the Sea of Galilee.
There He healed a man, seriously sick with demons [devils].
Other people there felt scared and they told Jesus to leave.
So Jesus went back to the city,
There a crowd of people were excitedly waiting for Jesus.
In that crowd was one man -- Jairus,
anxious about his sick daughter.
Thinking, "Jesus, please hurry!"
Jesus, riding on a boat, arrived.
The crowd runs to Jesus.
But one man pushes to the front.
"Jesus! Please come. My daughter is really sick -- near death."
So the two of them walk together back to Jairus' house.
Not fast enough for Jairus.
Then, Oh No!
Jesus stops, turns around, and talks with a woman.
Interruption!
Please hurry!
...while Jesus talks, ... and talks ... and talks.
...and Jairus waits.
Then, the worst thing happens.
Someone comes to tell Jairus that his daughter died.
All hope is gone.
Too late!
?What does Jesus do now?
?Give up? turn around? and leave?
No, Jesus continues walking with Jairus to his house,
to heal his daughter.
You know how the story ends.
Jesus speaks to that girl, and she lives.

to heal his daughter.

Jesus speaks to that girl, and she lives.
This story teaches three lessons.
The first lesson we learn from Jairus.
God works in His way, in His time.
We love to advise God.
We tell Him what WE think He should do... NOW.
We forget that HE is God.
Do we trust Him? Do we obey Him?
We act like God, and we tell Him what He should do for us.
We think that our job is managing God!
And His job is doing what we want.
And God never does that fast enough.
Why is God so slow?
Don't worry. God is still God.
Jairus got his daughter back, in God's time and in God's way.
Jesus sees what we really need,
and He knows the best time and best way for helping us.
No matter what happens, we can trust Him.
God is never late.

The second lesson in this story is what?
Jesus has power for defeating [beat] death.
How?
(1) Jesus is true God.
He made life.
He can give back life.
(2) Jesus defeated death for all people,
when He died on the cross instead of us,
and He rose again alive.
We all die, because we all sin.
No one can escape from death.
But we can escape from hell,
because Jesus paid our debt.
He forgives our sins 100%.
Jesus rose again from the dead,
and He promises that on the Last Day
He will raise our bodies, also.
We see here that Jesus is ruler [manager] over life and death.
In this story, Jesus invited Jairus to trust Him.
Jesus also invites us to trust Him.
Jesus has power for defeating [beat] death.

The Third lesson we learn from Jairus' daughter.
Often Jesus told people, “Your faith healed you.”
Jesus told that to the woman that had the bleeding problem.
But Jairus' 12 year old daughter --
What did she do for becoming alive again?
NOTHING!
No one in Jairus' family.
his friends.
himself,
No one can pat-themselves-on-the back.
All the honor and praise is for Jesus alone.
That girl -- her resurrection --
that was 100% Jesus' work -- His gift.
She can add nothing.
Her father can add nothing.
Their friends can add nothing.
That picture perfectly compares to our conversion
and becoming saved.
The Bible says that before we know Christ,
our spirits are dead because of our sins.
What can dead people do for making themselves alive again? Nothing.
What can lost people do for becoming saved? Nothing.
But the Bible says:
Often Jesus told people, “Your faith healed you.”

Jesus spoke to you
the same-as He spoke to Jairus' 12 year old daughter.
His Word gave her life,
as His Word now gives you life.
the same-as He spoke to Jairus' 12 year old daughter.
His Word gave her life,
